The 9th running of the Downtown Denton Turkey Trot will be held on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024. This local favorite runs through the gorgeous TWU campus and the historic Downtown Denton Square. We have seen registration grow from 1500 our first year to 2400 in 2018.

The 1k Gobble Wobble is open to kids 13 and under. Payment of $15 at registration covers a shirt and medal.

Kids (13 and under) can participate in the 5k walk/run for $20, amount will discounted automatically at checkout.

T-shirts are unisex, please register early to ensure you get one!

The Downtown Denton Turkey Trot is almost here! We've highlighted below some important information for race day:

Packet Pickup
Taking place at Greater Denton Arts Council (400 E. Hickory Street, Denton, Texas, 76201) from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27. The first 2,500 people to pick up their packets will receive a special edition beer can glass. You may pick up other people's packets, and all you will need is their first and last name. There will be two different lines for packet pickup - one line for individuals picking up for four or less packets, and a second line picking up for five or more packets. Please ensure to join the correct line. Packet pickup will also be available on race day starting at 6:30 a.m. until the race starts. NOTE: We do not provide finisher medals. We provide commemorative beer can glasses instead to the first 2,500 people who pick up their packets.
 
Canned Food and Pet Food Donations for Raffle Giveaways
We are collecting canned goods for the Denton Community Food Center. All donations will receive raffle tickets and the raffle will happen after the 5K ends. Winners will be announced at the DJ booth and will receive a gift basket. There will also be collections of dog food for the Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center. You may bring these items to either packet pickup on November 27 or to the race on November 28.

Race Day Parking
Parking is free if you use public parking. Please note that the city of Denton does have some lots that you must pay for. You will be responsible for ensuring the payment of your vehicle if you decide to park there.

Race Day – Thursday, November 28, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.
Search Oak Street Draft House (308 E. Oak Street, Denton, Texas, 76201) in Google, and you’ll be taken directly to the race site. 

If you aren’t able to pick up your packets at Greater Denton Arts Council, you can pick up your packet at the race site starting at 6:30 a.m. Additionally, registration will also be open during that time as well, so if you bring a friend, they can register! The Kids’ Gobble Wobble 1K will begin at 8:30 a.m. If you are a parent of a child running the 1K, you are more than welcome to run the race with them. There will be no charge.

Additionally, if your child has signed up for the 1K, and you are running the 5K, your child may run with you in the 5K at no charge as well. The Downtown Denton Turkey Trot 5K will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Strollers and dogs are welcome! Please note that we are expecting close to 3,000 participants, so please be courteous and start at the back of the pack.
